A cinnamon roll also called cinnamon bun, cinnamon swirl, cinnamon danish, and the "kanel snegl" is a sweet roll served commonly in Northern Europe and North America. Its common use is for breakfast or dessert. The main ingredients are flour, cinnamon, sugar, and butter, which provide a robust and sweet flavor. In some places, it is eaten as a breakfast food and is often served with cream cheese or icing and a tea. Here is my quick and easy homemade (eggless) kanel snegl recipe,

Ingredients
  • 2 cups Milk
  • 25 g Yeast
  • 180 g Butter
  • 1 tbsp Sugar
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt
  • 4 dl Cake Flour
Fillings
  • 100g Butter
  • 100 g Brown Sugar
  • 2 tbsp Ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup Raisins
Glaze
  • Powdered sugar
  • Milk

Directions

Get a fresh yeast and mix the sugar with it. When the yeast is melted and has reacted to sugar, Add the warm milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Prepare the stand mixer and slowly add the flour. Turn the dough well until it is smooth and shiny. Then place a cloth on top of the dough, Ask it to rise in a warm place about 30-45 minutes.

In the meantime, Stir softened butter, brown sugar and cinnamon well. Knead the dough through again. Roll and form a rectangular shape then spread all the filling. Add raisin evenly all over the dough. Roll them together lengthwise and cut it into small pieces. Put the rolls on a baking paper, let it rise for about 15 minutes. (Optional: Egg brush) Bake it for 25-30 mins at 180 C. Place it into a wire rack and let it cool. Lastly, Mix the powdered sugar and milk. Then pour it on top of the cinnamon rolls and then serve it with coffee or tea. Enjoy! :)
